Thank you, luxury retailer Anne Fontaine, her General Manager Anna Billings, and Community Advocate & dear friend Jennifer Snowden for having me model in the Annual St. Jude’s Heart of Fashion for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital last night.

Because of generous donors, including those from our Las Vegas Community, families never receive a bill from St. Jude’s for treatment, travel, housing, or food.

Research shows that financial stress affects not just their mental and emotional well-being but their physical health. This means how a cancer patient responds to the cancer treatment.

Fun Fact: I started my blog several years ago to talk about mental and
emotional health. Mental health talks can have such a heavyweight, so I Incorporated Fashion since it is fun and I love it so much. Freedom of expression…

To learn a little bit more about what St. Jude’s Research Hospital and the St. Jude’s Research Foundation do, keep reading.

Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since the hospital opened nearly 60 years ago. St. Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.

According to senior study author Dr. Anurag Singh, director of radiation research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, N.Y., “financial worries can hamper the success of cancer treatment and raise patients’ risk of death, according to a new study that offers the first evidence of such a link.” (https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2021-03-10/medical-bill-worries-tied-to-worse-outcomes-for-cancer-patients-study)

In short, financial worries doubles your risk of dying.

Moreover, previous research by study co-author Elizabeth Repasky, interim chairwoman of immunology at Roswell Park, found that chronic stress can limit the effectiveness of cancer treatment. This isn’t shocking because stress weakens the immune system and can cause insomnia, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, including sickness such as high blood pressure, feeds cancer, and more.

I pray that we find a cure for cancer. I hope this article gave you a little more insight.

Suppose you know anyone who has experienced a mental health struggle. In that case, I encourage you to consider donating to a nonprofit that provides free mental health therapy and counseling to those who are underinsured, uninsured, or undocumented, such as Solutions of Change. I have the honor of serving as their Brand Ambassador and Board Member. This nonprofit serves Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, and surrounding communities. You can also continue the fight and support St. Judes Ranch or St. Judes Research Hospital.

Lastly, don’t forget I am running for United States of Mrs. Nevada and your support is appreciated. Find out More about me HERE and you can sponsor me HERE.
